Completing tasks and photo verification

Updated: August 29, 2026

Every shift has a task checklist split into morning and evening tasks. Not every task belongs to you, and not every task works the same way.

Who a task belongs to

  • Crew tasks — visible to everyone on the shift. Any of you can complete them, but if you're the last person leaving, all of them must be done.
  • Personal tasks — assigned to one specific worker. Only that person can complete it, and it blocks only them from leaving.
  • Position tasks — tied to a role like cashier or driver. Only whoever is currently working that position can complete it, and it only blocks the last person still holding that position.

Trying to complete someone else's personal task, or a position task you aren't currently working, returns "Not your task" or "Not your position" — this isn't a glitch, the task genuinely isn't yours to close.

Two ways to complete a task

  1. Checkbox tasks — just tap to mark done, no photo needed.
  2. Photo-verified tasks — you upload a photo and the app checks it automatically before marking the task done.

Photo verification

When you submit a photo, the task status becomes "Submitted" while it's being checked automatically — it isn't reviewed by a person in real time, so you may need to wait a moment. Depending on what the task checks:

  • Freezer temperature panel — the photo must clearly show the temperature reading. It's only approved if the reading is at or below the configured threshold (commonly -14°C). If the app can't read the panel or the temperature is too high, it's rejected with a reason like "couldn't read the panel/temperature" or "temperature too high".
  • Charging indicator — the photo must clearly show the charging light or indicator. No visible charging sign → rejected.
  • Custom check — some tasks use a free-form description of what the photo must show; the rejection reason (if any) explains what was missing.

If a photo is rejected, it's deleted and the task goes back to pending — you need to retake the photo so it clearly shows what's required, then resubmit. Approved photos are kept for a while for audit purposes, so there's no need to keep your own copy.

Tasks that need a value, not just a photo

Some tasks ask for a number or short text instead of (or alongside) a photo — they only count as done once you've entered something, a blank value doesn't count.

Starting fresh each shift

Task status doesn't carry over between shifts — once the last worker on a shift closes it out, every task on that checklist resets to pending for the next crew.
