Counting and transferring inventory

Updated: August 29, 2026

Inventory in the app means the actual stock counts tied to a location — not to be confused with the fixed equipment details you might see on a location's info page (those are just reference attributes, not stock).

You need an active shift

You can only see and edit the inventory tied to the location you're currently clocked into. No active shift, or a shift at a different location than the inventory belongs to, means you won't have access at all. Start your shift first if inventory looks empty or unreachable.

Adding or editing items

  • Item name is required.
  • Quantity can't be negative (leave it blank and it defaults to 0).

Transferring stock to another location's inventory

  • Select at least one item and a quantity greater than zero for each.
  • Pick a different target inventory — you can't transfer to the same one you're moving from.
  • You can't transfer more than you currently have of an item.

When a transfer succeeds, matching item names at the destination are merged automatically (case-insensitive) rather than creating duplicates; if nothing matches, a new item is created there. Every add, edit, and transfer is recorded in that item's history, so a manager can always see what changed and when.
